Irizar presents their new vehicles at Busworld 2025
Irizar Group is presenting two new latest generation electric buses from the Efficient range for the first time at Busworld. One is a new generation Irizar ie bus, and the other is a new Irizar i3 Normal Floor, both vehicles are 100% electric.
Irizar Group is once again present at the Busworld International Congress with their multi-technology buses and coaches from the Efficient range, as well as many other new products, all of which are focused and aimed at driving the decarbonisation of the sector.
At stand number 602 in Hall 6, in 1710 m2 Irizar and Irizar e-mobility are showing a complete range of buses from the Efficient range, which spans from urban and intercity models to long-distance coaches. There is a new generation of the Irizar ie bus model, a new class II Irizar i3 electric Normal Floor, two Irizar i6S efficient units and an Irizar i8 unit. The entire range is designed to provide complete and complementary solutions adapted for all kinds of operations that respond to current challenges in mobility.
Irizar Group’s presentation took place this morning at their stand, and many clients, partners as well as international press representatives were present.
Imanol Rego, CEO of the Irizar Group, highlighted the importance of continuing along the path of decarbonisation, with a commitment to innovation and integrating the latest technological advances. “We continue our path of decarbonisation with a technological neutrality. We do believe that it’s possible to decarbonise with a range of multi-technology vehicles. Our mission is to bring the best solution to our customers, citizens and people”.
“In recent years we’ve expanded our Efficient range with the goal of accelerating the shift to cleaner mobility and a better life. With this new range we’re achieving annual savings of up to 150,000 tons of CO₂”.
The highlight of the event arrived with the eagerly awaited public presentation of the new Irizar ie bus and the new Irizar i3 Normal Floor, both of which are 100% electric vehicles that have created high expectations among the attendees. “These new vehicles are not just more efficient, they will also contribute to greater CO₂ savings, strengthening our commitment to emissions-free mobility”, noted Imanol Rego.
Irizar is maintaining their international vocation and strong presence around the world. The European market accounts for approximately 60% of the sales of the Irizar Group. Likewise, markets such as Mexico, South America and Australia are strategic and important markets for Irizar.
The new Irizar i3 Normal Floor, 100% electric Efficient
Irizar is presenting the new Normal Floor version class II electric integral Irizar i3. After the launch of the Low Entry electric Irizar i3 in October 2024, with this Normal Floor version Irizar is completing the 100% electric intercity range.
The new electric Irizar i3 Normal Floor has a completely vanguard design that maximises passenger and luggage compartment capacity. With a more aggressive front and sharper angles, it is in line with the rest of the range of Irizar vehicles. It’s a Normal Floor vehicle completely designed for the sustainable future of the intercity environment, silent and zero-emissions.
Created to facilitate all intercity operations and passenger comfort, the electric Irizar i3 Normal Floor has more than 7 m3 luggage compartment. The capacity of the luggage compartment depends on the length and configuration of the vehicle.
Furthermore, new, lighter and stronger materials have been integrated into the new design, which has made it possible to reduce its weight by 1000 kg. Its range stands out, which is up to 450 km with a single daily charge, which facilitates operations of all clients.
The electric Irizar i3 Normal Floor shares components with the rest of the Irizar models, and almost all the exterior elements are compatible with the electric Irizar i3 Low Entry. Consequently, stock of spares can be minimised, which makes the electric Irizar i3 Normal Floor a more efficient and sustainable vehicle for operations, maintenance, and repair.
The vehicle meets the highest safety standards in the framework of the new GSR2 regulations with the integration of advanced components, like cameras and radar to guarantee the safety of the driver and passengers. The new Irizar i3 meets the R155 and R156 European regulations regarding cybersecurity management system and software updates for vehicles. Thus, it is guaranteed that the systems function as expected and security risks that arise can be mitigated. One important development is that the Irizar i3 Normal Floor complies with the R29 regulations, which improves driver and passenger protection in the event of a head-on collision. That regulation has already been implemented in the rest of the Irizar range of vehicles.
In addition, the electronic architecture of the vehicles makes it possible to analyse data for diagnostics and implementing preventive maintenance measures. The electrical and fuse unit has been implemented in the driver’s area, which facilitates access to it and improves safety for maintenance people during roadside interventions.
The bodywork of the new electric Irizar i3 is available in an integral self-supporting configuration and with different electric chassis.
The new Irizar ie bus Efficient
Irizar e-mobility has presented their new class I Irizar ie bus at Busworld. The vehicle is completely electric and includes significant advances in efficiency, capacity, accessibility, comfort, safety, and sustainability.
Thanks to a new structural concept, a weight reduction around 1000 kg has been achieved, which increases passenger capacity by 5% in relation to the previous generation.
Regarding accessibility, the new model has wider doors, aisles and passenger flows, which guarantees easier, more comfortable, and more inclusive access for everybody.
With driver comfort in mind, the independent climate control of the driver’s area has been improved, ensuring optimum comfort at all times. In addition, reducing the height and weight of the vehicle contributes to better driving dynamics.
In order to improve travelling experience, the new Irizar ie bus has more space and better luminosity, creating a more comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for passengers.
By using a more compact motor, a new generation of more efficient batteries, and a new thermal manager, among other things, it has been possible to reduce energy consumption by 10% in comparison with the previous generation.
Significant progress in the use of recycled materials - twice as much as the previous platform - has been made on this new platform. That milestone reflects Irizar’s commitment to sustainability and the future of transport.
The exterior design of the new Irizar ie bus stands out because of its strong personality, which is inspired by the rest of the brand’s models. Its strong angles, alongside a well-defined frontal aesthetic, reinforce its distinctive character. The side elements are visually integrated using a design that connects the windows, panels, and doors into a single harmonious whole.
Of course, this new bus meets the most demanding standards on the market, guaranteeing maximum safety at all times.
The Irizar i6S Efficient: the most efficient coach in Irizar's history
The Irizar i6S Efficient has become the most efficient coach in the history of Irizar, with a reduction in consumption and emissions of up to 13%, a weight reduction of up to 950 kg, and an improvement in the aerodynamic coefficient of 30%.
In addition, the new generation of the integral drive system provides an addition reduction in consumption of up to 5%, weight optimisation, and it also complies with all the new GSR2 and cybersecurity regulations. It’s an improved range that has a new cockpit with a new steering wheel, updated keys, and a new version of the dashboard with an updated design and an option to choose night mode for driving. Furthermore, the electronic mirror system provides better visibility under any climatic conditions.
In addition to the hydrogen version, the Irizar i6S Efficient is currently available with diesel, biodiesel, natural gas, hybrid, and biofuel technology.
The fatigue trials and durability tests done at Idiada, one of the most prestigious applied research institutions in the world, guaranteed their efficiency, reliability, and quality.
More than 2000 Irizar i6S Efficient units are on the road around the world in the most demanding operating conditions, with notable results in reliability and consumption. Thanks to the efficiency of this vehicle, an annual savings of 76,800 tn of CO₂ has been accumulated.
The Irizar i6S Efficient has an especially significant presence in countries like Spain, France and Italy. The important value added by the consumption reduction and innovative design of the new Irizar i6S Efficient are key in Irizar’s geographical expansion in regions like Scandinavia, Germany and the Baltic countries.
The Irizar i8, luxury at the service of our clients
The Irizar i8, the brand’s flagship, remains a leader in comfort, luxury, design, and innovation. The new generation of this model in Europe already includes some of the updates of the Efficient range, for example the electronic mirrors that help reduce fuel consumption and improve driving safety.
The new generation of the integral drive system provides an additional reduction in consumption of up to 5%, weight optimisation and, in addition, it complies with all the new GSR2 and cybersecurity regulations.
