The new Irizar ie tram is joining the Efficient line, following in the footsteps of the Irizar ie bus Efficient, and it is a step forward in the evolution of a vehicle that has already set a trend in numerous cities.
It is a completely new and renewed vehicle developed using the know-how accumulated since 2011 and backed by more than 200 million kilometres on the road in 55 European cities to offer an even more efficient, reliable, safe and accessible solution, adapted to the real needs of today’s urban environments.

Insofar as the design, with this new generation the distinctive identity of the Irizar ie tram has been maintained. The exterior design, which has captivated modern cities, remains intact, with its elegant and cutting-edge appearance that is still synonymous with innovation and technology.

The new Irizar ie tram incorporates all the innovations and improvements implemented in the Irizar ie bus Efficient in terms of reducing energy consumption by up to 10%, a weight reduction of nearly 1,000 kg, a new and more efficient climate control system, a more compact motor, latest-generation batteries and the use of 50% more recycled source materials.

Among the main technological advances, the complete redesign of the front, that improves visibility and provides a panoramic view, can be highlighted. In addition, the driver’s area has been designed following the German VDV reference standard.

This new vehicle has a new generation chassis designed to optimise reliability. In parallel, exhaustive work has been done to strengthen the reliability and durability of the vehicle, with one clear goal, which is to create a solution that can operate without complications.

All the doors are now wider, making access faster and more comfortable for everyone. Furthermore, this new vehicle is more agile thanks to the height reduction, which makes it possible to access historic and urban areas with height limitations without restrictions. It also has a 5% higher capacity for passengers, a more luminous interior and better comfort while travelling.

The new Irizar ie tram incorporates all the requirements for day-to-day operation in a coherent way that makes a plug & play implementation possible that can be integrated into existing operation systems.

Thanks to more than 15 years of experience in electromobility, Irizar e-mobility continues making significant progress in simulation and digital twins of its platforms. Those capabilities have made it possible to optimise every detail of the design of this new vehicle, promoting more efficient solutions with higher performance aligned with lower impact on the environment.
