TMB purchases another 29 Irizar e-mobility zero-emission electric buses for the city of Barcelona
Aduna, 22 September 2021
The public transport operator Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is once again putting its trust in Irizar e-mobility by buying another 29 new zero-emission buses to be added to its fleet of electric buses.
The units will be added to the thirteen Irizar buses currently operating in Barcelona on line H16, the first fully electric line.
The order is for 29 articulated ie tram 18-metre buses fitted with opportunity charging pantographs to be delivered in September 2022.
Powered by Irizar lithium ion 150 kWh batteries, the buses charge during travel through rapid charging by pantograph. For safer and more efficient driving, the vehicles will be equipped with driving assistance systems and will also have two digital cameras that project images on screens in the driver´s position, to optimise visibility and safety during driving.
The buses will help the Barcelona bus system achieve its objectives towards reducing emissions in the coming years, in order to provide increasingly sustainable public transport that has less impact on the environment.
“This is the third consecutive order we have received from TMB for this type of vehicles. We are immensely proud to partner TMB in its commitment to the energy transition and we really appreciate the trust that they are once again showing in our electromobility solutions” says Imanol Rego, Director of Irizar e-mobility.
With this new order Irizar e-mobility is consolidating its strategy of becoming a key player in smart and sustainable mobility with a commitment to mass public mobility, to reducing the level of polluting emissions, connecting means of transport for better fleet management, improving information to users and introducing new technological developments to enhance the safety and experience of passengers.
